The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky and the night comer - 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
