Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
