He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you attend; 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olives and palms 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 and from his mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
