Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha-Mim 1 By the Clear Book, 2 Verily We! We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that haply ye may reflect. 3 And Verily, it (this Quran) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of Wisdom. 4 Should We divert this Good Counsel from you because you are a people immersed in extravagance? 5 How many a prophet did We send among the men of old! 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 And if thou askest them: who hath created the heavens and the earth? they will surely say: created them the Mighty, the Knower. 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 that you may be seated on their backs and then remember your Lord's blessing when you are seated on them, and say, 'Glory be to Him, who has subjected this to us, and we ourselves were not equal to it; 13 And lo! unto our Lord we surely are returning. 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15
