And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 Nor a true friend; 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
