And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat. 33 And there We made gardens of palms and vines, and in it We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Glory be to Him Who created all the sexual pairs, of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves, and of that which they know not! 36 They have a sign in the night: We withdraw from it the [light of] day -- and they are left in darkness. 37 The sun runs to its fixed resting place; that is the decree of the Almighty, the Knower. 38 We have appointed stages for the moon till it returns in the shape of a dry old branch of palm-tree. 39 Neither does it lie in the sun's power to overtake the moon nor can the night outstrip the day. All glide along, each in its own orbit. 40 And a sign to them is that We bear their offspring in the laden ship. 41 And have created for them of the like thereof whereon they ride. 42 and [that,] if such be Our will, We may cause them to drown, with none to respond to their cry for help: and [then] they cannot be saved, 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 And when it is said to them, 'Fear what is before you and what is behind you; haply you will find mercy' -- 45 and no message of their Sustainer's messages ever reaches them without their turning away from it. 46 And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allah has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error." 47 And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?” 48 They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing. 49 And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return. 50
