The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
