The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
