The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
