Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
