The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
