The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
