The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
