The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
