Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
