The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
