We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape; 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 But when your Lord said to the angels: "I am verily going to create a human being from fermented clay dried tingling hard; 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 So, the angels - all of them - fell down in prostration, 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 The Lord inquired: "Iblis! What is the matter with you that you did not join those who prostrated?" 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast. 34 "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee 37 unto the day of a known time.' 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 (To which God) said: "This way is right by Me. 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
