The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 then he mustered 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
