Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 raised couches, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
