Fir'awn said unto the chiefs around him: verily this is a magician knowing. 34 Who wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery. Now what do you advise?" 35 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send gatherers to the cities.” 36 “To bring to you every expert great magician.” 37 So the sorcerers were gathered on the appointed day 38 And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled?- 39 so that we may follow the magicians, if they be the winners." 40 Then when the magicians came, they said unto Fir'awn: will there surely be a big hire for us if we are the winners? 41 He said: yea; and ye shall verily then be of those brought nigh. 42 Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw." 43 So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will certainly win!" 44 Then Moses cast down his staff and suddenly it swallowed up what they had falsely invented. 45 The magicians fell down prostrate, 46 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 47 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 48 Said (the Pharaoh): "You have come to believe in him before I gave you leave. He is surely your chief, who taught you magic. You will soon come to know: I will have your hands and feet cut off on alternate sides, and have every one of you crucified." 49 'There is no harm' they replied, 'for surely to our Lord we are turning. 50 “We hope that our Lord will forgive us our mistakes, as we are the first to believe.” 51
