۞ Say: 'O my people who have been prodigal against yourselves, do not despair of God's mercy; surely God forgives sins altogether; surely He is the All-forgiving, the All-compassionate. 53 Turn towards your Lord and obey Him before the punishment comes upon you when you will not be helped. 54 "And follow the best of that which is sent down to you from your Lord (i.e. this Quran, do what it orders you to do and keep away from what it forbids), before the torment comes on you suddenly while you perceive not!" 55 Lest a person should say: “Alas for me for neglecting my duty towards Allah and for being among those that scoffed”; 56 Or before the soul says, "Had God guided me, I could have been a pious man". 57 Or (lest) he should say when he sees the torment: "If only I had another chance (to return to the world) then I should indeed be among the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112)." 58 [But God will reply:] "Yea, indeed! My messages did come unto thee; but thou gavest them the lie, and wert filled with false pride, and wert among those who deny the truth!" 59 If you see those who had imputed lies to God on the Day of Resurrection, black would be their faces (with disgrace). Is there not a place in Hell for the arrogant? 60 But, Allah will save those who fear Him with their winnings (Paradise). No evil shall touch them, nor shall they ever grieve. 61 Allah is the Creator of everything; He is the Guardian over everything. 62 To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. And they who disbelieve in the verses of Allah - it is those who are the losers. 63
