He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 So you are after him! 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and who has fear of God, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
