In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those [angels] who range themselves in close ranks 1 Then those who drive away with reproof, 2 and conveying [to all the world] a reminder: 3 Indeed your God is surely only One. 4 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Lord of the easts. 5 Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars 6 And to guard against every rebellious devil. 7 They cannot listen to the exalted assembly, and they are darted at from every side. 8 To make them flee, and for them is a never-ending punishment. 9 Except such as snatch away something by stealing and they are pursued by a flaming fire of piercing brightness. 10 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Are they stronger in constitution, or those We created? We created them of clinging clay. 11 Aye! thou marvellest, and they scoff. 12 And when they are warned they pay no heed. 13 and when they become aware of a [divine] message, they turn it to ridicule 14 and say: 'This is nothing but clear sorcery' 15 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we be resurrected. 16 “And also our forefathers?” 17 Say thou: "Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated (on account of your evil)." 18 It shall be but one shout, lo! they shall be staring. 19 and they say, 'Woe, alas for us! This is the Day of Doom.' 20 [And they will be told:] "This is the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false - the Day] which you were wont to call a lie!" 21

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
