Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the scatterers (the wind) scattering, 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 then by the distributors (angels), ordered; 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
