The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
