The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a mighty Day. 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
