The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
