Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
