And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
