a large throng from the ancients, 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 And those of the left hand, how wretched are those of the left hand! 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 and constantly said: 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be restored to life? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 will eat from the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment. 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 We could make it brackish, if We pleased; so why do you not acknowledge thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire you kindle? 71 Produce ye the tree thereof, or are We the Producer? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 Then glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
