He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 These verses are a reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
