He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fearfully, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 lofty and pure, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and covered by darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
