The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a great day 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
