Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 And inspired in it the knowledge of its sins and its piety. 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 and he who suppresses it will be ruined. 10 TO [THIS] TRUTH gave the lie, in their overweening arrogance, [the tribe of] Thamud, 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)! 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
