The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
