The unbelieving assembly of his nation, who belied the encounter of the Everlasting Life, and on whom We had bestowed ease in this life, said: 'This is but a human like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, then you will be losers. 34 “Does he promise you that when you die and turn into dust and bones, you will be raised again?” 35 ۞ After, after with that which you are promised! 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 This man has forged a mere lie in the name of Allah and we shall never believe what he says." 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people. 41 Then after them We raised other generations. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, that haply they may be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them a refuge on a hillside where there was a hollow and a spring. 50
