The people of Aykah also gave the lie to the Messengers. 176 When Shu'eyb said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 177 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 Weigh your goods with proper balance 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 “And fear Him Who created you and the earlier creations.” 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 you are only a mortal like us. Indeed we believe that you are an utter liar. 186 So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful." 187 He said: My Lord knows best what you do. 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Surely, in this is indeed a sign; but most of them would not believe: 190 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 191
