The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 Do men fancy that they will be left just upon their declaring, “We believe”, and they will not be tested? 2 We indeed tested those before them – so Allah will surely test the truthful, and will surely test the liars. 3 Or do those who do evil deeds think they can outrun Us? Evil is what they judge. 4 Let those who have the desire to be in the presence of God on the Day of Judgment know that their day will certainly be coming. God is All-Hearing and All-Knowing. 5 He who strives does so for himself. Verily God is independent of the creatures of the world. 6 Those who believe and do good deeds, We shall cleanse them of their evil deeds and reward them according to the best of their deeds. 7 We have enjoined man to show kindness to his parents. But if they bid you associate with Me something about which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me you shall all return, and I shall tell you about all that you have done. 8 And those who accepted faith and did good deeds – We shall indeed include them among the virtuous. 9 Of mankind are some who say: we believe in Allah; then if they are afflicted in the way of Allah, they take the persecution of men even as the torment of Allah; and then, if succour cometh from thy Lord they say: verily we have been with you. Is not Allah the Best Knower of that which is in the breasts of the creatures? 10 And Allah will surely make evident those who believe, and He will surely make evident the hypocrites. 11 The unbelievers say to the believers, 'Follow our path, and let us carry your offences'; yet they cannot carry anything, even of their own offences; they are truly liars. 12 They shall bear their own burdens, and other burdens besides. On the Day of Resurrection they shall be questioned about their false assertions. 13
