Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth; and, apart from God, you have neither protector nor helper. 31 Ships sailing in the ocean like ensigns are a sign of His. 32 if He will, He calms the wind so that they remain motionless upon its back, surely, there are signs in this for every thankful, patient (person). 33 or else He may cause them to perish because of what they have wrought; and [withal,] He pardons much. 34 Then those who wrangle about Our Signs will come to know that there is no escape for them. 35 So whatsoever things are vouchsafed unto you are but a passing enjoyment for the life of the world, and that which is with Allah, better and more lasting, is for those who believe and in their Lord put their trust. 36 (This reward will be for) those who keep away from major sins and indecency, who forgive when they are made angry, 37 Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance; 38 And those who, when great wrong afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 The guerdon of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereof. But whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his wage is the affair of Allah. Lo! He loveth not wrong-doers. 40 Yet indeed, as for any who defend themselves after having been wronged - no blame whatever attaches to them: 41 blame falls only on those who wrong men and transgress on this earth without justification, such will have a painful punishment, 42 But surely he who bears patiently and is forgiving -- surely that is true constancy. 43
