The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
