He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he fears, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
