A numerous company from among the first, 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor beneficial. 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers – 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 and drink boiling water on top of that, 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital! 56 It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth? 57 Behold! that which ye emit. 58 Did you create it, or are We the Creator? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 You have known the first creation, then why do you not reflect? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We have made it a reminder and an advantage for the wayfarers of the desert. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
