The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall call for destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
