Nay! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning for people -- 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
