In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
