The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
