The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
