The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 He verily will be content. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
