Have you considered he who turns his back, 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses), 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 And that unto thy Lord is the goal. 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
