Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ SAY: "It has been revealed to me that some of the unseen beings gave ear [to this divine writ,] and thereupon said [unto their fellow-beings]: "'Verily, we have heard a wondrous discourse, 1 It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. 2 'And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. 3 The fool among us spoke against God outrage, 4 'And verily, we thought that men and jinns would not utter a lie against Allah. 5 And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. 6 Those people thought, like you, that God would never send down a Messenger. 7 (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. 8 We sat in observatories to listen; but any one who listened found a shooting star in wait for him. 9 and that “we do not know whether evil is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends to direct them to the Right Way”; 10 Some of us are righteous, but some are otherwise, we are sects that differ. 11 And that we know that we cannot escape Allah in the earth, nor can we escape Him by flight: 12 When we heard the guidance, we believed in it; and whosoever believes in his Lord, he shall fear neither paltriness nor vileness. 13 Some of us are Muslims and some of us have deviated from the Truth. Whoever has embraced Islam has followed the right guidance. 14 And as to the deviators, they are fuel of hell: 15 If they (non-Muslims) had believed in Allah, and went on the Right Way (i.e. Islam) We should surely have bestowed on them water (rain) in abundance. 16 ‘In order to test them with it; and whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord – He will put him in a punishment that keeps on increasing.’ 17 "And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not any one along with Allah; 18 when God's servant stood up to pray to Him, they pressed close to him in great numbers, almost stifling him. 19
